Everything You Need to Know Before Your First Session
Sound baths are one of those wellness practices you have to experience to fully understand, so we want to do our best to break it down. At Vibrant Soul Pilates & Wellness, our monthly sound bath experiences combine gentle movement and immersive sound to create a deep, full-body sense of calm. Whether you’re curious about the science, the benefits, or just what to expect when you show up, this guide has you covered.
Despite the name, there’s no water involved. A sound bath is an experience where you’re “bathed” in sound waves created by instruments like crystal singing bowls, chimes, or gongs. You lie down, get cozy, close your eyes, and simply listen. There’s no movement, no chanting, and no need to “do” anything. It’s passive, restorative, and designed to help your body enter a deep state of relaxation through sound and vibration.
Sound baths work by influencing your brainwave state. The frequencies created by crystal bowls and similar tools can help slow down brain activity, moving you from your usual busy, thinking mind into a more meditative, restful state. This shift supports the parasympathetic nervous system (also known as your “rest and digest” mode), helping your body release tension and come back to baseline after stress or overstimulation.

Our monthly sound bath sessions begin with 30 minutes of gentle movement led by one of our incredible instructors. This flow is intentionally slow and simple, helping you release tension in the body and settle your mind before the sound begins. Then, you’ll lie down (we’ll provide props, mats, and everything you need), and Lauren from Green Space Sound Journey will guide you through a deeply immersive sound bath using crystal bowls and other vibrational tools. The space is dimly lit, grounding, and calming. There’s no pressure to perform or participate. Just rest.
